George Clooney and His Family Receive French Citizenship Amid Pursuit of Privacy

Post by : Mina Carter

The French government has officially conferred citizenship upon Hollywood icon George Clooney, his spouse Amal Clooney, an esteemed human rights lawyer, and their twin children, Ella and Alexander. This notable decision was recently documented in the Journal Officiel, which is the authoritative publication for formal government decrees in France.

Amal Clooney received her citizenship under her maiden name, Amal Alamuddin, which honors her identity prior to marriage. The announcement also included George Clooney's complete name, Timothy included. This naturalization is pivotal for the family, who have grown increasingly connected to France since acquiring a rural estate in 2021.

Since settling into their new home, George and Amal have made France their primary residence. Earlier this year, George shared insights behind this decision, expressing concerns over raising their children in the intense environment of Hollywood. He remarked, “I was worried about raising our kids in L.A., with the Hollywood culture. I don’t want them worrying about paparazzi or being compared to other famous kids.”

Relocating to France permits their twins to enjoy a more private childhood, away from constant media scrutiny. Clooney elaborated on how their life in France offers a more grounded experience, including family meals and controlled screen time, countering the fast-paced, high-pressure lifestyle often found in Hollywood.

While the family rejoices in their new French citizenship, it remains uncertain if George Clooney has retained his American citizenship. Amal, who hails from Lebanon and was raised in the UK, alongside their London-born twins, now holds French citizenship, marking a new chapter in their lives.

This shift highlights the Clooney family's focus on maintaining privacy and a balanced family environment, favoring the peaceful French countryside over the frenzied celebrity lifestyle of Los Angeles as they nurture their children.
