The Emirates Nuclear Energy Company (ENEC) has forged a key partnership with the Department of Government Enablement – Abu Dhabi (DGE) to empower UAE Nationals within the burgeoning civil nuclear energy sector.

This collaboration, established through the Mawaheb Talent Hub, seeks to equip Emiratis with crucial technical skills essential for the UAE's clean energy ambitions.

Notable figures present for the agreement signing included His Excellency Mohamed Al Hammadi, Managing Director and Group CEO of ENEC, alongside Her Excellency Mariam Al Musharrakh, Director General of GovTalent at DGE.

The formal signing was conducted by His Excellency Dr Abdulla AlShimmari, Executive Director of the National Workforce Enablement Sector at DGE, and Ahmed Alshamsi, Chief Human Capital Officer of ENEC.

Over a five-year span, this initiative aims to provide training and career opportunities to at least 100 UAE Nationals, holding qualifications from high school diplomas to postgraduate degrees, in the nuclear energy field.

As part of this collaborative effort, the Mawaheb Talent Hub will supply ENEC with skilled candidates and access to premium facilities for workshops, assessments, and interviews.

ENEC will manage and fully finance the training programs, offering financial internships for participants throughout the training duration. Successful candidates will be integrated into ENEC and its subsidiaries, contributing to the operations at the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant.

In discussing this collaboration, Mohamed Al Hammadi emphasized ENEC's dedication to cultivating a robust Emirati workforce capable of leading the nuclear energy sector for years ahead.

He mentioned that this agreement will enhance the talent pipeline, readying UAE Nationals with the expertise vital for achieving the nation's carbon-free energy objectives and sustainable growth.

His Excellency Ibrahim Nassir, Undersecretary of DGE, emphasized that the agreement underscores a mutual commitment to nurturing Emirati talent and preparing national specialists for this pivotal sector.

He remarked that initiatives like this are pivotal in transforming the UAE's long-term vision into action, cultivating highly skilled professionals in the clean energy domain.

To date, ENEC has reported that over 2,000 Emirati experts have played significant roles in the advancement and maintenance of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant through its development initiatives.

The Barakah Plant’s four units collectively produce 40 terawatt-hours of clean electricity annually, catering to nearly 25 percent of the UAE’s energy needs while preventing substantial carbon emissions each year.

With this new partnership, ENEC and DGE aspire to bolster the UAE's status as a front-runner in clean energy and nuclear workforce development.
