Rourkela, Odisha:

On Saturday afternoon, a nine-seater aircraft owned by IndiaOne Airlines made an emergency landing near Rourkela, resulting in injuries to six individuals, including the pilot and co-pilot.

Officials reported that the aircraft suffered a technical malfunction shortly after its take-off, compelling it to land in agricultural land near Katibandha Kansara, close to Jalda, around 1:20–1:30 pm.

The single-engine Cessna Caravan 208, registered as VT-KSS, was en route from Bhubaneswar to Rourkela and took off at 12:27 pm with two pilots and four passengers aboard.

The Odisha government acknowledged the pilots for their quick decision-making. Upon detecting the fault, they issued a Mayday call and executed a controlled forced landing, successfully preserving all lives on board.

“The pilots managed to ensure a safe landing despite the circumstances, which ultimately saved lives,” stated an official government release.

IndiaOne Airlines verified that the aircraft only progressed four to five kilometres before the incident unfolded. The airline is collaborating with aviation regulators and local authorities in Odisha to provide support to passengers and crew.

All of the injured have been transported to a local hospital in Rourkela, where their conditions are currently stable.

In response to the incident, police and fire services, alongside senior officials including the Rourkela Superintendent, arrived at the scene promptly. The area was sealed off as a security measure due to a fuel leak from the aircraft, restricting public access.
