His Excellency Elias Bou Saab, Lebanon's Deputy Speaker of Parliament, discussed the country's potential for a swift recovery and enduring stability despite current regional conflicts, during a recent event hosted by the Dubai Press Club (DPC).

The dialogue, titled “Lebanon Between Stability and Regional Dynamics,” featured contributions from Maryam Al Mulla, Director of DPC, alongside a diverse group of media experts and leaders.

During his remarks, Bou Saab addressed the critical political and economic hurdles Lebanon faces, elucidating how various regional dynamics are intertwined with Lebanon's prospects. He highlighted the significance of relationships between Gulf nations, Iran, Russia, and China for Lebanon's trajectory.

He cautioned that any rise in regional tensions involving Iran could exert additional strain on Lebanon's already fragile political and economic landscape.

Nevertheless, Bou Saab expressed hope for Lebanon's future, pointing out its rich economic and human resources that could facilitate a quicker recovery than anticipated. He underscored the vital role of the Lebanese diaspora as a foundational support for the national economy.

According to him, bolstering stability is essential for Lebanon to advance necessary reforms and fortify governmental institutions. Bou Saab specifically mentioned the importance of adhering to the Taif Agreement, which aims at enhancing governance and ensuring that arms are solely controlled by the Lebanese Armed Forces.

On investment prospects, he remarked that Lebanon still holds significant allure for investors, asserting that enhanced stability could progressively attract increased economic activities and foreign investments in the near future.

Looking ahead, he encouraged businesses and investors to gear up for this transitional phase, confident that Lebanon can reclaim its economic stature in the region as regional tensions diminish.

Bou Saab lauded Dubai and the UAE for their successful development model, attributing its stability to thoughtful planning and robust leadership.

He acknowledged Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's vision in turning challenges into opportunities and prioritizing growth and development.

Recalling Sheikh Mohammed's visit to the American University in Dubai post-9/11, Bou Saab mentioned how the quick decision to expand student capacity exemplified a proactive approach towards fostering growth in hard times.

He predicted that once the current regional crisis subsides, the UAE and Dubai will unlock significant economic opportunities, reiterating that nations with robust economies will emerge best positioned for future prosperity.
