Dubai RTA Revamps Driver Training with Cutting-Edge ADAS Technology

Post by : Bianca Hayes

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has modernized its light vehicle driver training curriculum to incorporate the latest advancements in safety technology, particularly focusing on Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

The enhanced program now educates students about crucial smart safety features such as forward collision warning, blind spot detection, lane departure warnings, parking assistance, adaptive cruise control, and anti-lock braking systems. These features are increasingly common in newer cars and are essential for ensuring safer driving.

Sultan Al Akraf, Director of Drivers Licensing at RTA, stated that these enhancements aim to bolster road safety, foster better driver behavior, and decrease traffic incidents by aligning the training with global standards.

Developed in collaboration with local driving institutes, the new curriculum is now part of both theory and practical training sessions, as well as the official handbook utilized by learners.

Al Akraf noted that over 250,000 trainees have benefited from the curriculum updates. In addition, regular workshops are being conducted for driving schools in Dubai to ensure they stay updated on the latest vehicle technologies.

This initiative supports the RTA's long-term vision of creating safer roads by equipping new drivers with a solid understanding of advanced vehicle safety systems.
