As part of the #HattaWinter initiative, Dubai Municipality has announced the eagerly awaited return of the Hatta Honey Festival, reaffirming its dedication to promoting agri-tourism, local production, and sustainable rural initiatives.
Open to the public and free of charge, the festival will run until December 31, 2025, at Hatta Hall. It unites beekeepers, honey producers, entrepreneurs, and guests in a lively environment that shines a light on Hatta’s rich natural landscape and agricultural heritage.
This festival is pivotal in establishing Hatta as a premier eco- and agri-tourism hub. By integrating production, education, testing, and retail in one venue, it generates direct economic opportunities for Emirati producers, small businesses, and family-run enterprises, thereby integrating Hatta more deeply into Dubai’s tourism and economic framework.
This edition features over 50 indoor booths dedicated to beekeepers and honey producers, along with 10 outdoor stalls focusing on retail and local entrepreneurship. Attendees can also take advantage of an outdoor workshop area, traditional majlis, indoor lounge, live cultural performances, children’s activity zones, and four food and drink trucks, ensuring a complete family-friendly winter experience.
Dr. Naseem Mohammed Rafee, CEO of the Environment, Health, and Safety Agency at Dubai Municipality, stated that the festival exemplifies the authority’s commitment to fostering sustainable agri-tourism and empowering national producers through platforms that ensure economic growth, quality assurance, and community engagement. He emphasized that the event harmoniously blends learning, heritage, and enjoyment while bolstering the local economy and Dubai’s overarching vision for sustainable tourism and agriculture.
A significant attraction this year is the involvement of the Dubai Central Laboratory, which is presenting an advanced laboratory platform for honey testing. This facility employs cutting-edge infrared technology capable of performing essential quality and safety assessments in less than a minute. The laboratory follows a comprehensive testing framework that encompasses up to 512 accredited tests, thereby enhancing consumer trust and ensuring top food safety standards.
In harmony with Dubai Municipality’s digital transformation agenda, the laboratory will also unveil a state-of-the-art sample reception system using smart technology. Honey samples will be taken in via an automated robot system, functioning without human intervention, ensuring precision, dependability, and strict adherence to safety and quality protocols.
Alongside the festival activities, Dubai Municipality will introduce an innovative project aimed at documenting the quality of Emirati honey. This initiative will establish a laboratory fingerprint and digital identity for local honey, enabling verification of its type, origin, and quality through advanced scientific methods. A cooperation agreement with the Hatta Traders Council will be formalized to execute this pioneering project, which stands as a first-of-its-kind initiative in the UAE.
More than just commerce and technology, the Hatta Honey Festival represents a community-centric winter destination experience. Through hands-on workshops, informative sessions, and live performances across both indoor and outdoor spaces, the festival enhances quality of life, fosters entrepreneurship, and boosts community involvement.
The event aligns with a broader development strategy for the Hatta region, aimed at diversifying the local economy, empowering Emirati entrepreneurs, and creating sustainable investment opportunities in agriculture and small-scale industries, all while upholding the highest standards of product quality and safety.
