The Dubai International Marine Sports Club has launched registration for the second round of the Local Rowing Boats Race, set to take place on Saturday at the Dubai Healthcare City Promenade, Phase Two, in Al Jaddaf. This initiative aims to bolster the popularity of traditional marine sports and foster greater community involvement.

The organising committee has disclosed that the upcoming race will feature two heats each for both the local rowing boat category and the open category, welcoming teams from government and private sectors alike. Depending on participation, the number of heats may be expanded. The first round saw impressive engagement with 42 boats, including 26 in the local category, indicating a rising enthusiasm for rowing.

To facilitate fair competition and effective event management, several fresh regulations have been established for the second round. All boats must now display their load numbers on the back. Additionally, technical inspections will be mandatory to verify compliance with safety and performance standards. A drawing will also be held to assign starting positions, guaranteeing an open and equitable environment for all racers.

Mohammed Al Merri, Director of the Sports Affairs Department at the club, mentioned that this second round is crucial, reflecting the growing interest since the inaugural race. He emphasized that these initiatives underscore Dubai’s dedication to enhancing marine sports, upholding high organisational benchmarks, and fostering a competitive yet equitable atmosphere for all teams.
