In a significant effort to enhance trade relations, Dubai Chambers successfully facilitated 276 bilateral business discussions between local Dubai enterprises and Ghanaian firms in Accra, the country's capital, as part of its inaugural trade mission to Ghana and Ethiopia.
This mission was part of the chamber’s ‘New Horizons’ initiative, designed to assist Dubai businesses in entering promising international markets while fostering robust global collaborations.
The delegation featured representatives from 19 companies in diverse sectors, including automotive, construction, electronics, engineering, FMCG, food and beverages, interior design, mining, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, printing, and textiles.
Salem AlShamsi, Executive Vice President of International Relations at Dubai Chambers, affirmed the chamber's dedication to enhancing economic collaboration between Dubai and Ghana, aimed at creating sustainable business opportunities in both regions.
He emphasized that the trade mission facilitates fresh dialogue channels while helping Dubai firms discover expansion prospects within the Ghanaian market. Furthermore, he noted that this initiative boosts the competitiveness of Dubai's private sector and promotes the growth of non-oil exports.
To complement the visit, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce organized the ‘Dubai-Ghana Business Connect’ forum, in collaboration with the UAE Embassy in Ghana, the Consulate General of Ghana in the UAE, the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre.
The forum drew 532 participants, consisting of government officials, business leaders, investors, and others eager to forge partnerships between the two regions.
Notable speakers at the event included H.E. Dr. Abdulla Murad Al Mandoos, UAE Ambassador to Ghana; H.E. Grace El Mahmoud Marabe, Consul General of Ghana in Dubai and the Northern Emirates; Stéphane Miezan, President of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and Simon Madjie, CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre.
During the forum, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce highlighted Dubai’s vibrant economic landscape and its status as a global trade and investment hub. The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre showcased investment opportunities in Ghana, emphasizing the nation’s strategic role as a gateway to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
Trade relations between the two regions are escalating swiftly, with non-oil trade values soaring to AED 39.6 billion by 2025—an impressive 60.1% year-on-year growth.
This strengthening partnership is further evidenced by data from the Dubai Chambers, revealing that by the end of Q1 2026, 225 Ghanaian firms were active members, including 16 that joined during Q1 2026.
The primary sectors of these Ghanaian members encompass trading and services, real estate, transport, social services, and construction.
