Celina Jaitly Urges Contact with Brother Held in UAE

Actress Celina Jaitly remains hopeful as her brother, Maj. (Retd.) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, has been detained in the UAE for over a year. The emotional ordeal has reached 15 months without any communication, but a recent order from the Delhi High Court has ignited a new spark of hope for the family.

On Thursday, the Court instructed the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to inform Vikrant during the next consular access that his sister wishes to connect with him. The MEA was also directed to enable their communication via the UAE’s TAMM app or other available means.

Celina expressed her emotions in a poignant Instagram post, sharing her ongoing struggle and the heavy silence impacting her family. “Ma & Pa… I am doing my best! I haven’t spoken to Vikrant in 15 months. Today, hope was placed on record… Thank you, Universe!!” she stated after the court's session.

The High Court heard her petition for access to her brother and legal assistance, during which the MEA provided a status report and appointed a nodal officer for coordination. Although Celina hasn't communicated with Vikrant yet, the Additional Solicitor General reassured the court about the efforts to facilitate this communication.

The court recognized the distress faced by the family alongside their longstanding legacy of service in the Indian Armed Forces. The next hearing is scheduled for December 23.

Seeking privacy during this challenging time, Celina affirmed she wouldn’t engage with the media and requested that inquiries be directed to her legal representative, Raghav Kacker of Kacker & Co.

Previously, it was reported that Maj. (Retd.) Vikrant Jaitly had been residing in the UAE since 2016 and was working with the MATITI Group, specializing in trading, consultancy, and risk management. His detention, which began in September 2024, is believed to be tied to national security concerns raised by UAE officials.
