South Korea Factory Fire in Daejeon Kills 14, Dozens Injured

A deadly factory fire in Daejeon, South Korea has killed 14 people and left dozens injured, officials confirmed on Saturday. The fire broke out at a car parts factory on Friday around lunchtime, causing panic among workers inside the building. Rescue teams worked for hours to control the flames and save those trapped.

According to fire authorities, the blaze was finally brought under control by late Friday night. At least 25 people were seriously injured, while another 35 suffered minor injuries. Emergency teams rushed the victims to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The factory is owned by Anjun Industrial, a company that produces engine valves. It is known to supply parts to major automakers like Hyundai Motor and Kia Corp. Authorities are still trying to find out what caused the fire.

In a public statement, CEO Sohn Ju-hwan expressed deep regret over the tragedy. He said the company will fully support the investigation and take strong steps to improve safety systems. He also promised to prevent such accidents in the future.

The government quickly responded after President Lee Jae Myung ordered all possible resources to be used for rescue and relief efforts. A central disaster management system was activated to handle the situation more effectively.

Officials said the victims were found on different floors of the building, showing how quickly the fire spread. One victim was found on the first floor, four on the second floor, and nine on the third floor. Authorities are continuing their investigation as the country mourns the loss of lives in this tragic factory fire.
