A complaint has been filed against Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya for allegedly insulting the national flag during the celebration of India’s T20 World Cup victory. The complaint was submitted to Pune Police by an advocate who asked authorities to register a First Information Report (FIR) against the star cricketer. The issue has attracted attention across social media and news platforms, especially because it involves one of India’s most popular cricket players.

According to police officials, the complaint was filed by advocate Wajid Khan at the Shivaji Nagar police station in Pune. A police officer confirmed that the complaint application had been received but did not provide further details about whether a formal FIR has been registered yet. The matter is now under review by the police, and officials are expected to examine the complaint before deciding on the next legal step.

In the complaint, the advocate claimed that Hardik Pandya allegedly disrespected the national flag while celebrating India’s victory in the T20 World Cup final. The celebration took place at a cricket stadium in Ahmedabad after India defeated New Zealand in the final match. According to the complaint, Pandya wrapped the Indian tricolour around his body while celebrating on the field. The advocate also alleged that the cricketer engaged in behaviour that he described as inappropriate while holding the flag.

The complaint states that such actions may be considered an offence under laws related to the respect and dignity of the national flag. The application further mentioned that every citizen has a responsibility to treat the national flag with respect and care. Because of this, the complainant requested that the police take legal action and register a case against Hardik Pandya.

The incident reportedly took place shortly after India secured its historic victory in the T20 World Cup final. Players and fans celebrated the win with great excitement inside the stadium. The victory was special for India because the team successfully defended its T20 World Cup title and lifted the trophy once again in front of thousands of cheering fans.

During the tournament, he scored important runs and took crucial wickets that helped India reach the final.

Pandya scored two half-centuries in the tournament and finished with nine wickets in total. His powerful batting and effective bowling helped strengthen India’s performance in several matches. Because of his consistent performance, Pandya was also included in the International Cricket Council’s Team of the Tournament for the 2026 T20 World Cup.

After India’s victory in the final match against New Zealand, Pandya spoke about the achievement and said the win fulfilled a personal promise he had made to himself. He explained that after winning the 2024 T20 World Cup, he had promised to give his best in every tournament he played and aim to win trophies for the country.

The 32-year-old cricketer also shared that he had faced several personal challenges before the 2024 World Cup but had worked hard to make a strong comeback. According to Pandya, his goal was to perform well for the Indian team and help the country win major tournaments.
