Chhattisgarh: In a devastating incident, six workers lost their lives and five were injured in a blast at a steel facility in Balodabazar–Bhatapara district on Thursday, according to officials.
The explosion took place in the dust settling chamber of the plant, leading to severe injuries and fatalities. District Collector Deepak Soni reported that six individuals perished instantly, while five others suffered critical injuries.
State Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal indicated that he has been in contact with district authorities to ensure that the injured receive optimal medical care. He also mandated a comprehensive inquiry into the incident and vowed to hold those responsible accountable.
Response teams from the police and administration were dispatched promptly to the site to facilitate rescue efforts. The injured workers were transported to the Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) in Bilaspur for urgent treatment.
The state government expressed its commitment to providing full support to the families of the deceased workers.
