With the esteemed backing of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, the widely acclaimed long-distance triathlon, Challenge Sir Bani Yas, is set to return for its second installment from 31 January to 1 February 2026.

Coordinated by ADNEC Group, a Modon company, in association with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and Challenge Family, this event promises an even more captivating experience for athletes, families, and onlookers.

Building on its inaugural success in early 2025, which welcomed over 3,000 athletes from 40+ nations, the organisers are keen to up the ante for 2026. Improvements will feature upgraded race logistics, specially curated weekend packages, and a more favorable racing schedule, solidifying its reputation as a standout triathlon globally.

Pioneering a unique experience, ADNEC Group has also introduced cruise ship accommodations for the first time. Competitors and their families can stay aboard the Celestyal Discovery, which boasts modern cabins, diverse dining options, entertainment, and direct access to the competitive venue. The ship will further accommodate technical support teams, thereby establishing one of the region's most comprehensive race villages.

His Excellency Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, remarked that the event's return underscores Abu Dhabi’s dedication to strengthening its status as a global sports hub. He emphasized that the race provides both seasoned and novice athletes a chance to compete in the stunning surroundings of Sir Bani Yas Island while promoting healthy lifestyles and community involvement.

Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, Group CEO of ADNEC Group, mentioned that the occasion aligns with their goal to enhance Abu Dhabi's international sports repertoire. He also noted that Challenge Sir Bani Yas showcases the tourism potential of the Al Dhafra region, fostering sustainable growth in both sports and tourism.

Challenge Sir Bani Yas 2026 will include various race formats, such as the Long Distance Triathlon (3.8km swim, 180km cycle, 42.2km run), Middle Distance Triathlon (1.9km swim, 96km cycle, 21.1km run), and Olympic Distance Triathlon (1.5km swim, 45km cycle, 10km run).

Aligning with the UAE’s Year of Family 2026, community and family races will also be on the agenda, offering inclusive events in swimming, cycling, and running for participants of all ages and fitness levels. The festival atmosphere will continue, featuring wildlife safaris, kayaking, snorkeling, cultural tours, and a vibrant Fan Village to enrich the overall experience.
