On Friday evening, a vehicle barreled through the entrance of Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, crashing into a ticketing area and leaving six individuals injured, as reported by airport authorities.
The Wayne County Airport Authority confirmed that law enforcement took the driver into custody following the event. Currently, the reasons behind the crash remain unclear, with airport police actively probing the situation.
Emergency personnel from the WCAA Fire Department attended to the six injured individuals on-site. Their medical conditions have yet to be disclosed.
Social media posts revealed a blue four-door sedan halted in the terminal vicinity near Delta Air Lines counters, with its hood and trunk ajar. Debris and shattered glass littered the entrance, while police tape cordoned off the area.
At this time, authorities have not disclosed the identity of the driver. Investigations are underway to ascertain if the crash was accidental or malicious.
