A young boy, about 12 or 13 years old, died after being struck by a GO Train in Mississauga on Wednesday afternoon. Peel Regional Police said the accident happened at around 2:45 p.m. near a railway crossing on Alexandra Avenue, close to Lakeshore Road East. Emergency teams quickly reached the spot, but the boy was sadly declared dead at the scene.

Police said the boy was with another child and both were riding a motorized bike in the area. There was no adult with them at that time. Early information shows that the boy went around the crossing barrier just before the train arrived. Officials also confirmed that the warning system at the crossing was working properly, with lights flashing, arms down, and sound alerts active.

Police officer Tyler Bell said this is a very sad situation for the family. He said children should be careful near railway crossings, especially when riding bikes. He also said he does not want to blame the boy but wants to remind everyone about safety.

Because of this accident, train service was stopped for some time on both Lakeshore West and East lines. This caused big delays for passengers. Around 6:30 p.m., GO Transit restarted the service, but they warned that some delays and changes could still happen.

GO Transit also said sorry to passengers for the trouble and thanked people for their patience. They said this was a very difficult situation for everyone involved. This tragic event is a reminder that trains are very dangerous, and people must always be careful at railway crossings. Police are still investigating the case.
