Manama: Bahrain's Public Prosecution has ordered the pretrial detention of several suspects implicated in a spying operation connected to Iranian intelligence and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

An official statement revealed that the probe was initiated following thorough investigations by Bahrain’s intelligence services into the suspects’ foreign ties and activities. Those arrested are thought to have coordinated with external organizations.

The Chief of the Terror Crimes Prosecution indicated that the detainees were tasked with monitoring critical strategic areas throughout the Kingdom. Their activities reportedly included gathering essential intelligence that could facilitate planning for possible future attacks.

Authorities noted that the suspects were directed to capture the aftermath of hostile incidents, documenting damage through photographs, suggesting a systematic approach to evaluate and report on operational results.

The Public Prosecution has launched an official inquiry and is currently interrogating the detainees. A court order mandates their continued detention as investigations proceed, with authorities aiming to reveal further details of the alleged espionage network.

Officials reiterated that inquiries are still active, emphasizing a commitment to national security and identifying any other parties that may be implicated.
