During the week of April 4–10, 2026, the Government of Vietnam, led by the Prime Minister, released a series of transformative policy reforms aimed at streamlining administration, fostering economic development, and boosting innovation. These initiatives are designed to enhance governance efficiency and support the nation's overarching development strategies.
Among the highlights was the introduction of Resolution No. 66, targeting the reduction and simplification of administrative processes affecting production and business operations across 14 different ministries and agencies. This initiative is anticipated to alleviate regulatory pressures and enhance the business climate.
The government also focused on revamping working methods within the political structure to optimize efficiency. A comprehensive plan was sanctioned to modernize administrative workflows, minimize unnecessary meetings, and promote the utilization of information technology in governmental operations.
Notably, the Prime Minister endorsed modifications to regional planning for six key regions extending through 2030, with a broader vision looking ahead to 2050. The plan to declare Dong Nai as a centrally governed city was also given the green light, marking a critical milestone in urban advancement.
Significant shifts were made in economic and social policies, notably an increase in the maximum income limit for social housing purchases. The new regulations set higher income thresholds, facilitating access to housing for a larger demographic.
The government further unveiled long-term initiatives, including the establishment of 1,000 leading enterprises by 2030 and enhancing Vietnamese firms' presence in international markets. These programs are focused on elevating competitiveness, fostering innovation, and facilitating global integration.
Additional reforms are geared towards promoting scientific research within universities, launching a national entrepreneurship strategy, and imposing stricter regulations on key sectors such as electricity, the environment, and food safety. These actions demonstrate Vietnam's dedication to sustainable modernization and growth.
