The World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE), a global initiative spearheaded by the Qatar Foundation, has launched the application period for the WISE Prize for Education for the 2026-2027 cycle. This initiative aims to fund innovative educational solutions that tackle pressing global challenges while providing mentorship and technical expertise.
WISE will sift through applications to select finalists through a comprehensive assessment. Each finalist stands to gain between USD 100,000 and USD 125,000 in development funding, along with participation in a 12-month mentorship and support program aimed at enhancing their projects and maximizing their long-term effects.
The competition will culminate at the WISE 13 Summit, set for Doha in 2027, where an international jury will bestow prizes totaling USD 1 million on the most effective and scalable educational solutions, demonstrating measurable improvements in learning.
This edition focuses on pressing educational needs such as enhancing access for underserved communities, encouraging responsible AI in learning, fortifying literacy and numeracy skills, and promoting student wellness both mentally and physically.
Dr. Asyia Kazmi, CEO of WISE, emphasized that the program aims to empower organizations capable of transforming innovative concepts into scalable initiatives that drive genuine progress in global education systems.
Aurelio Amaral, WISE's Director of Innovation, indicated that the initiative mainly seeks to support established institutions with promising pilot projects. The technical assistance will guide participants in developing sustainable strategies adaptable across diverse regions and cultures.
Proposals submitted will undergo a rigorous evaluation, including eligibility checks, expert assessments, and an “innovation race” to evaluate adaptability to real-world educational settings, paving the way to the 2027 development phase.
Since its inception in 2009, the WISE Prize for Education has celebrated over 100 pioneering projects and notable figures globally. The initiative continues to grow as a pivotal platform for supporting data-driven educational solutions with global potential.
