Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has declared that Selangor has successfully eradicated hardcore poverty through effective targeted aid programmes. This announcement was made during a recent district meeting focused on welfare and development in the state.

The prime minister showcased this achievement at the Petaling District Development Meeting held in Shah Alam, where progress on various initiatives aimed at uplifting low-income communities was reviewed.

Anwar stressed the importance of continuous oversight even after reaching this milestone. He emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring no family is overlooked and that eligible individuals receive the necessary support to enhance their quality of life.

In addition to financial assistance, Anwar highlighted the need for skill development and training. By fostering educational opportunities and income-generating activities, families can achieve self-sufficiency and bolster their long-term financial security.

The prime minister pointed out that Selangor’s robust economy is integral to the success of these programmes, urging that the economic capacity of the state be effectively leveraged to improve living standards for all residents, particularly in urban communities grappling with financial difficulties.

Anwar also called for the expansion of the SejaTi Madani programme, particularly in the Petaling district, aimed at encouraging community projects that provide income and sustainable livelihoods.

During the discussion, several successful initiatives were highlighted, including strategic projects in Kampung Melayu Subang, stingless bee farming in Bayu Damansara, and furniture production in Bukit Lanchong. These initiatives have reportedly enabled community incomes to soar between RM24,000 to RM100,000, showcasing the effectiveness of focused support.

Other significant matters affecting the public were also on the agenda, such as road maintenance, flood prevention, waste management, and managing places of worship. The government is pursuing both immediate corrective actions and longer-term strategies to address these challenges.

Anwar concluded by expressing optimism that with sustained collaboration and commitment from all stakeholders, the government can tackle ongoing issues and ensure development benefits are extended to every segment of society.
