Indian Railways is gearing up to introduce the Amritsar-New Jalpaiguri Amrit Bharat Express, aimed at enhancing rail connectivity between the regions of Punjab and West Bengal. Anticipated to commence shortly, this weekly train service is set to boost affordable travel options.

The train will directly link Amritsar in Punjab to New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal, traversing vital cities and towns in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar along the route. Officials are optimistic that this new service will greatly benefit numerous long-distance travelers.

Developed by the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, the Amrit Bharat Express is crafted as an economical, modern option for regular commuters. It features numerous upgraded passenger amenities while ensuring ticket prices remain more affordable than typical premium options.

As per the announced timetable, train number 14664 will depart from Amritsar every Thursday at 12:45 PM, reaching New Jalpaiguri by Saturday at 4:15 AM. The return train, number 14663, is scheduled to leave New Jalpaiguri every Saturday at 8:00 AM and get to Amritsar Monday at 2:20 AM.

The train will make stops at 35 stations throughout its journey, including key locations such as Jalandhar City, Ludhiana, Ambala Cantt, Saharanpur, Moradabad, Bareilly, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Raxaul, Sitamarhi, Forbesganj, Bagdogra, and Siliguri.

The service is expected to be especially beneficial for passengers from Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh, providing direct connectivity for smaller towns currently lacking long-distance train services.

Railway officials mentioned that the Amrit Bharat Express is part of Indian Railways’ initiative to broaden accessible, modern train services nationwide. The target demographic includes lower- and middle-income travelers seeking added comfort during extended journeys.

Experts in travel anticipate that this new route will bolster tourism and economic links between northern and eastern India, alleviating travel challenges for families, students, and migrant workers.
