The Ajman Department of Economic Development (Ajman DED) has rolled out a directive requiring all businesses to obtain prior consent before altering prices of essential goods within the emirate.
This regulation impacts all economic entities, including suppliers, wholesalers, retailers, and distributors. All businesses must inform the Ministry of Economy and Tourism via approved digital channels before enacting any price modifications. Requests must include valid economic justifications.
This initiative is part of Ajman's broader strategy to sustain market stability, safeguard consumer rights, and enhance pricing transparency. Officials aim to ensure that any increase or price shift is reasonable and substantiated by justifiable economic factors.
The department noted that this regulation aligns with existing UAE legislation and is intended to monitor market dynamics closely. It also aims to enhance collaboration between the public and private sectors to promote a balanced and sustainable economic framework.
The rule encompasses a specified set of 29 essential goods deemed vital for consumers’ everyday requirements. All businesses handling these products must adhere strictly to the updated guidelines.
