The Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC) proudly announces its recent achievement of LEED Platinum Certification, recognized under the LEED v4.1 Operations and Maintenance (O+M) rating system, the pinnacle of acknowledgment within the globally esteemed Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) initiative.
This milestone is a significant testament to ADPHC’s unwavering dedication to fostering healthier, energy-efficient, and eco-conscious environments for both its team and guests. By embedding sustainable methodologies into its daily functions, the centre is setting a commendable benchmark for establishments throughout the Middle East.
In pursuit of this certification, ADPHC embarked on a meticulous energy audit to evaluate building efficiency and pinpoint areas for enhancement. A variety of sustainable strategies were adopted, including overhauls to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, advanced lighting solutions, refined waste management approaches, the application of certified eco-friendly products, green cleaning operations, and elevated indoor air quality standards.
These proactive measures yielded impressive outcomes. Energy usage per individual was slashed by 36 percent, while water consumption fell by 42 percent and recycling rates soared to 44 percent. Such outcomes were pivotal for the centre in securing the coveted LEED Platinum certification.
His Excellency Dr Rashed Alsuwaidi, Director General of ADPHC, articulated that this acknowledgment mirrors the organization's firm commitment to safeguarding both environmental and public health. He highlighted that environmental considerations are intricately linked to communal well-being and stressed the need to set a precedent through sustainable methodologies.
Dr Alsuwaidi further elaborated that ADPHC’s sustainability initiatives align with the UAE’s Net Zero objectives and Abu Dhabi’s ambitious vision for a sustainable, resilient future.
ADPHC has fortified its commitment to sustainability over the past years, culminating in the release of its inaugural Sustainability Report in 2023, which details measurable advancements in carbon footprint reduction, waste minimization, and resource efficiency.
The LEED Platinum certification is a powerful affirmation of ADPHC’s belief in the interconnectedness of environmental sustainability and public health, with responsible ecological practices playing a vital role in enhancing communal health and well-being.
