In a groundbreaking move for the future of transport, Abu Dhabi has forged a partnership with ARIDGE, previously known as XPENG AEROHT, Asia’s foremost flying car manufacturer. This agreement is designed to accelerate the certification, testing, and launch of advanced air mobility technologies within the UAE capital.
As part of this strategic collaboration, ARIDGE is set to establish its operations in Abu Dhabi to develop and test integrated mobility solutions that blend road and air travel, leveraging the emirate’s robust regulatory framework and innovative ecosystem. This position will enable the company to utilize specialized testing corridors, assess local market applications, and enhance Abu Dhabi’s rapidly expanding Smart and Autonomous Vehicle Industries (SAVI) cluster.
The SAVI initiative aims to position Abu Dhabi as a leading global center for smart and autonomous mobility, with projections indicating it could contribute AED 44 billion to the local economy and create up to 40,000 high-value jobs by 2045.
This collaboration between ADIO and ARIDGE will concentrate on four pivotal areas:
Regulatory acceleration: Collaborating with UAE aviation authorities to define safety standards and certification procedures for flying vehicles.
Use case development: Examining real-world implementations including tourism, urban transport, emergency services, and last-mile logistics.
Market deployment: Creating pathways for transitioning prototypes into operational services, integrating necessary infrastructure.
Ecosystem growth: Attracting new investments and tech partners to fortify Abu Dhabi’s aerial mobility framework.
Through this initiative, Abu Dhabi is establishing itself as a leader in innovative, smart, and sustainable transportation, making the vision of futuristic flying vehicles a reality for urban living.
