First Edition of Abu Dhabi's Damj Award Sees 372 Entries

The inaugural Abu Dhabi Damj Award for People of Determination Inclusion, part of the Department of Community Development (DCD) initiative, has revealed a total of 372 entries received from various sectors, including government and private organizations, across the emirate.

Under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, this award aims to establish Abu Dhabi as a pioneering force in inclusive development through innovative programs and policies recognized globally.

Main Participation Categories

Entries were submitted under three key categories:

  • Inclusive Services

  • Inclusive Employment

  • Accessibility (Physical and Digital)

The significant turnout for the award underscores the importance of inclusion as a core value within Abu Dhabi's organizational culture. It also reflects the advances made through the Abu Dhabi Strategy for People of Determination, prioritizing an inclusive atmosphere and equal opportunities for everyone.

The Damj Award seeks to acknowledge collaborative efforts and initiatives that aim to improve the quality of life for People of Determination and their families. This recognition fosters their empowerment and participation across social, economic, and community activities.

Reflecting on the overwhelming number of entries, Her Excellency Dr. Layla Al Hyas, Executive Director of the Family and Child Welfare Sector at DCD, remarked:
“The impressive participation in the first Damj Award edition indicates Abu Dhabi’s deep commitment to the inclusion and empowerment of People of Determination.”

She emphasized that this milestone results from the UAE's visionary leadership and the collaborative efforts of various entities in Abu Dhabi to advance inclusive practices across services, employment, and community involvement.
