The National Academy for Childhood Development has launched the application process for the fourth cohort of its Accredited Vocational Diploma in Childhood Development. Applications are accepted from April 20 through May 4, 2026.
This initiative aims to cultivate a skilled national workforce in childhood development. The programme equips aspiring professionals to foster children’s growth with practical and scientific methods.
Since its inception, the diploma has attracted significant attention, amassing over 22,500 applications over the last three years. However, only 304 candidates were chosen, highlighting the competitive nature of the selection with an acceptance rate of just 1.35%.
Notably, the programme has seen rising involvement from UAE Nationals, with 114 Emirati students currently enrolled, showcasing a growing recognition of the value of early childhood development for societal sustainability.
Recognized by the National Qualifications Center, this 18-month diploma integrates rigorous academic study with practical training across 25 modules, segmented into five phases. The initial academic phase comprises 20 modules, with the remaining five addressed during a six-month field training segment.
The curriculum delves into essential subjects, including theories of child development, child behavior, protection, and family engagement, while placing emphasis on Emirati culture, national identity, and the Arabic language.
Students benefit from practical experience through placements in prominent organizations like the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge, the Zayed Authority for People of Determination, and the Family Care Authority, providing them the opportunity to implement their academic learning in real-world settings.
The entire programme is conducted in Arabic, aligning with the UAE’s mission to enhance the role of the language in educational and professional domains.
Chosen candidates receive full scholarships and a monthly stipend, allowing them to concentrate on their studies and career development.
Interested individuals can apply via the academy’s official website or the NAPO digital platform until May 4, 2026.
The academy recently celebrated the graduation of 191 students from its earlier cohorts, many of whom have joined various governmental and private sectors, addressing the needs of the UAE's childhood development landscape.
The programme continues to significantly contribute to shaping qualified professionals and fostering partnerships essential for growing the childhood development sector in the UAE.
