Dubai: The cricket world witnessed a stellar performance from 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi at the ICC Academy Ground, where he amassed a stunning 171 runs off merely 95 deliveries in India’s first match against UAE in the Under-19 Men’s Asia Cup 2025.

Suryavanshi showed remarkable prowess, reaching his hundred in just 56 balls. His explosive innings included five fours and nine sixes, demonstrating sheer aggression and skill. Maintaining pressure on the UAE bowlers, he concluded his innings with an incredible tally of nine boundaries and 14 sixes, marking one of the most unforgettable performances in recent tournament history.

His exit came in a surprising twist as spinner Uddish Suri dismissed him via a behind-the-legs delivery during a paddle sweep, leaving him just six runs shy of Ambati Rayudu’s 2002 Youth ODI record of 177.

Suryavanshi's rapid ascension in cricket is noteworthy. He already holds the record for the fastest Youth ODI century, achieved in just 52 balls against England, crippling Pakistan’s Kamran Ghulam's record. He’s also acknowledged as the youngest to reach this century milestone, further solidifying his reputation.

Just a month prior, he scored 144 runs off 42 balls against the very same UAE in the Asia Cup Rising Stars T20 event in Doha, underscoring his knack for high-scoring games. This is his second Youth ODI century, following a 143-run innings against England earlier this year.

His earlier domestic achievements include becoming the youngest to score a century in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, showcasing a brilliant performance for Bihar versus Maharashtra earlier this month.

India’s under-19 squad views this Asia Cup as a crucial preparation for the 2026 Under-19 ODI World Cup. On a day that called for a standout performance, Suryavanshi delivered in spades, creating a memorable highlight of the tournament.
