A group from the US Consulate, spearheaded by Consul-General Robert Raines, visited the Sharjah Art Museum during the 26th Sharjah Islamic Arts Festival, themed “Lantern.” They were received by Mohammed Ibrahim Al Qaseer, the Festival Director, along with Khalid Muslit from the Media Committee.
Al Qaseer shared insights into the festival's key features, emphasizing its exhibitions and diverse activities. He underscored the event’s role in establishing Sharjah as a prominent center for contemporary Islamic art and a global venue for artistic expression.
The Consul-General highlighted the vision of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, praising his steadfast commitment to cultural and artistic endeavors. This commitment, he noted, places Sharjah at the forefront of global cultural dialogues, drawing in creators from diverse backgrounds.
The delegation took time to appreciate a variety of artworks, including murals and both solo and group exhibitions. Raines expressed his admiration for the remarkable quality of the artists' work, noting their innovative yet traditional styles.
He also remarked on the robust cultural ties between the UAE and the United States, highlighting that these connections transcend political and economic realms. He advocated for ongoing collaboration in culture and creativity, complimenting the Sharjah Department of Culture for its successful organization of such impactful events.
