Two 19-year-old men have been charged after a taxi driver was shot dead in North Battleford
Authorities in Sydney have apprehended a Kazakh couple linked to a sophisticated cheating scheme that reportedly netted them over Rs 7 crore (A$1.2 million) at the Crown casino. Dilnoza Israilova, 36, and her husband, 44-year-old Alisherykhoja Israilov, had only just landed in Australia weeks prior, rapidly gaining a reputation as high-stakes gamblers.
Their unusual string of wins sparked suspicions, but it was the discovery of a miniature camera concealed within a Mickey Mouse T-shirt that revealed their dishonest practices. Casino security staff noticed the small device during one of their visits and promptly alerted the authorities.
Law enforcement officials promptly arrived at Barangaroo casino, where they detained the couple. Investigations suggest that the tiny camera captured live footage of the gaming tables, which was streamed directly to their mobile devices. Additionally, both individuals were outfitted with covert earpieces for immediate communication and betting instructions.
Upon searching their belongings, investigators found further cheating tools, including magnetised probes and a phone mirror attachment. The T-shirt with the camera is believed to have been crucial in transmitting images during several lucrative gaming sessions.
Following this, police searched their residence in Sydney, uncovering more gambling devices, valuable jewelry, and approximately Rs 2 lakh (2,000 euros) in cash. Authorities claim the couple had repeatedly exploited this cheating method for exceptionally high gains.
Charged with dishonestly obtaining financial advantage, the couple remains in police custody. Dilnoza is set to appear in court in February, while Alisherykhoja is due back at Downing Centre Local Court on December 11.
