Sharjah Set to Host the Thrilling F1H2O World Championship Finale

Sharjah is gearing up for the much-anticipated “Sharjah World Championship Week,” proudly held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi. This exciting week will showcase the final round of the UIM F1H2O World Championship, known as the Grand Prix of Sharjah, organized by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), happening from December 19 to 21 to mark the grand conclusion of the 2025 season.

Details of the championship will be disclosed on December 19 during a press briefing at Hotel Holiday International in Sharjah. Attendees will include Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of SCTDA, event promoter Nicolo Di San Germano, and prominent racers from UAE teams. Notable drivers like Shaun Torrente, Rusty Wyatt, Stefan Arand, and Mansoor Al Mansoori will also be present along with officials from various governmental bodies.

The final race is set to take place at Khalid Lagoon, one of Sharjah’s most iconic waterways. Elite racers from around the globe will contend for the top podium spots in a prestigious event recognized worldwide in powerboat racing. This race is an integral part of the Sharjah World Championship Week, drawing top-tier competitors and numerous fans.

This season, three UAE teams are in contention. The Sharjah Team, currently in second place, features Canadian driver Rusty Wyatt, Estonian racer Stefan Arand, and Finnish driver Filip Roms. The fifth-place Abu Dhabi Team includes Rashid Al Qamzi, Mansoor Al Mansoori, and Erik Stark, while the first-place Victory Team boasts Ahmed Al Fahim, Alec Weckstrom, and Shaun Torrente, who leads the individual standings.

The official itinerary for the Sharjah Grand Prix consists of various events starting December 18, with an environmental initiative aimed at carbon emissions reduction. December 19 will feature team registrations, a press conference, technical checks, and the initial free practice session. The next day will include driver briefings, qualifications, and two sprint races, culminating in a prize ceremony.

On the final day, December 21, participants will kick off with a warm-up session followed by a parade lap. The main event, the “Grand Prix of Sharjah,” is slated for the afternoon, wrapping up with the official awards ceremony. These events aim to deliver a rich and exhilarating experience for motorsport enthusiasts and guests.

The Khalid Lagoon circuit is renowned for its demanding design, spanning a 2,057-meter lap with five turns, incorporating four red buoys and a single yellow buoy. Accommodating up to 22 boats, the track features a 585-meter long straight area alongside shorter 260-meter sections that require remarkable precision. Last year’s competition witnessed fierce rivalry, with Jonas Andersson claiming the top spot. The UIM F1H2O championship remains a pinnacle of international marine sports, admired for its speed and skill, establishing a significant milestone in the sports tourism and water racing calendar.
