Reliance Industries is embarking on a transformative journey into India's AI sector, announcing a new 1 gigawatt AI data centre in Andhra Pradesh, as revealed by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. This advanced facility will be equipped with cutting-edge GPUs, TPUs, and specialized AI processors, making it a “fully modular, future-ready” data hub.

This data centre will not function in isolation; it is intended to serve as a twin to Reliance’s established gigawatt-scale AI centre in Jamnagar, Gujarat, creating one of the most potent AI computational networks in Asia.

Sustainability is key to this ambitious project. Reliance aims to support this extensive facility with a proposed 6 GWp solar power initiative, which will significantly enhance Andhra Pradesh’s existing solar capacity and provide clean energy for the centre.

Beyond infrastructure, Reliance is committed to a larger vision of democratizing AI. Through its MyJio platform, the company seeks to offer “pro-level AI tools” to students, farmers, entrepreneurs, and households across India.

This investment further solidifies Reliance’s presence in Andhra Pradesh, where it has already invested over $25 billion across its telecommunications (Jio), retail, and oil-and-gas sectors.

While the exact financial details of this AI centre have not been disclosed, it was established in a notable context—during the CII Partnership Summit 2025 in Visakhapatnam, alongside CM Naidu and state minister Nara Lokesh.

This announcement comes on the heels of a significant investment by Google, with the tech company committing $15 billion over five years for its own 1 GW AI data centre in Visakhapatnam.
