Prabowo Subianto Maintains Strong 78% Approval Despite Challenges

Jakarta – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto continues to enjoy a significant public approval rating of 78%, even in the face of economic difficulties and student-led protests happening throughout the past year.

A recent study conducted by the independent polling firm Indikator Politik Indonesia indicated that only 20.8% of participants expressed dissatisfaction with his governance. Particularly noteworthy were the high approval ratings for Prabowo’s anti-corruption initiatives, social assistance efforts, and his flagship free-meals program for children.

Yet, not every facet of his administration has garnered support. His management of political matters received the lowest score, with merely 31% approval. Criticism has also been directed at the growing involvement of the military in civilian affairs and issues with the free-meals program that resulted in some children falling sick. Economic growth remains a concern, as the latest quarterly report shows a slowdown to 5.04%, falling short of the government's 5.2% goal.

Regardless of these challenges, many Indonesians recognize the positive effects of Prabowo’s social initiatives, particularly in tackling corruption and aiding marginalized communities. The high approval reflects a public that prioritizes practical solutions over political unrest.
