Porter Airlines Launches Winter Flights from Ottawa

Porter Airlines is set to launch its winter service from Ottawa International Airport (YOW) over the next week, connecting travellers directly to five popular southern destinations. The new routes include Puerto Vallarta, Nassau, Cancun, Liberia, and Grand Cayman, all starting within the next seven days.

Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe praised the move, highlighting Porter’s commitment to the city and its future growth.

At peak frequency, the airline will operate six weekly flights to Puerto Vallarta and Cancun, daily flights to Liberia, two weekly flights to Grand Cayman, and one weekly flight to Nassau. Porter Airlines president Kevin Jackson emphasized that Ottawa will see more non-stop routes than any other city served by the airline this winter, totaling 24 destinations.

Travellers like Moranne St-Marie, planning a trip to Cancun, welcomed the increased options. She noted that direct flights simplify travel for young families, avoiding late-night return flights and long connections.

The expansion comes amid shifting Canadian travel trends, with more Canadians taking domestic and international trips while visits to the U.S. have dropped over 21% year-over-year. Porter also operates flights to popular U.S. destinations such as Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando, and Tampa, with Miami and Phoenix routes launching in 2026.

The airline’s new winter schedule promises to give Ottawa travellers more convenience, style, and service, reinforcing Porter’s growing presence in the region.
