The International Cricket Council (ICC) has awarded a “very good” rating to the pitch utilized in the first Ashes Test at Perth, marking it as the highest accolade in their pitch evaluation framework. Match referee Ranjan Madugalle conferred this rating after assessing the playing conditions during the two-day contest between Australia and England.

According to the ICC's four-tier pitch assessment system, a “very good” rating indicates a well-balanced pitch that fosters competition between batters and bowlers. The ICC noted that pitches satisfying this standard demonstrate consistent bounce, limited seam movement, and good carry throughout the game, ensuring equitable opportunities for both batting and bowling sides.
