Charles Oliveira has clarified the buzz surrounding a potential January clash with Max Holloway for the BMF title, confirming that while a rematch is in the works, it won’t happen just yet.

The former UFC lightweight champion, who recently secured a victory via submission over Mateusz Gamrot in Rio de Janeiro, shared on Instagram that conversations about the bout are ongoing but no confirmed date is set. “Look, there’s nothing confirmed about my fight, Max Holloway and I for January,” Oliveira stated. “I’m enjoying my family vacation… so it definitely won’t be in January. But this fight will happen. I want it, he wants it, and you also want it.”

Oliveira previously expressed his desire for the rematch after a vacant title fight loss to Ilia Topuria earlier this year. Meanwhile, Holloway hasn’t been in the Octagon since defending his BMF title against Dustin Poirier in July following a defeat to Topuria in late 2024.

The two fighters last faced off in August 2015 during a 145-pound match that ended prematurely due to a strange neck injury incurred by Oliveira within just 99 seconds. Both athletes have ascended to championship heights over the years, making this upcoming rematch highly awaited by fans across the globe.

Oliveira hinted that a more definitive timeline will emerge soon, suggesting that March or April looks promising for the anticipated showdown. With both fighters ready for a rematch, UFC fans are eagerly awaiting what promises to be an electrifying contest for one of the sport’s most prestigious titles.
