A devastated mother is coping with the loss of her eight-year-old daughter, who tragically fell from a balcony in Yaletown last week. Mahsa, who is expecting another child with her partner Jorge in January, is finding it hard to come to terms with this unimaginable heartache.

Family spokesperson Geoff Stollery shared that the incident occurred on Nov. 11 when the young girl fell from a 23rd-floor balcony while with her father. The child had been living in Squamish with her mother and stepfather.

“Mahsa is beloved by many families in the community,” Stollery remarked. “There is a profound sense of shock and sorrow in the aftermath of this event.”

In response to this heartbreaking situation, a GoFundMe campaign has been initiated to assist Mahsa and Jorge with pressing expenses. Stollery noted that the main goal is to relieve the family of financial stress so they can focus on mourning and healing.

“Mahsa had already taken time off work due to health issues, and now this tragedy has further complicated their situation. This support will give them the space needed to grieve,” Stollery added. “Days ahead will be difficult, but we are committed to helping them through this dark time.”

The funeral for the young girl is set to occur on Wednesday.
