In an electrifying encounter in Greece, Real Madrid staged a stunning comeback against Olympiacos, with Kylian Mbappe delivering an unforgettable performance, netting four goals, including the second fastest hat-trick in UEFA Champions League history. Overcoming an early deficit, the Spanish giants secured a thrilling 4-3 victory, marking their first win in five attempts at this venue and ending a three-match winless streak.

The match kicked off with Olympiacos taking the lead early on, as Chiquinho found the back of the net in the eighth minute. However, Real Madrid responded sharply through Mbappe, whose striking form led him to score three goals in a sensational span of just six minutes and 42 seconds during the first half. The French star first equalized at 1-1 with a precise finish, driving past two defenders with help from Vinicius Jr. Shortly thereafter, he headed a cross from Arda Guler into the net before completing his hat-trick with a composed finish, pushing Real ahead 3-1 by the 24th minute.

Though Real Madrid dominated the first half, Olympiacos fought back with Mehdi Taremi scoring a close-range header seven minutes into the second half, reigniting the hopes of the Greek side. Yet Mbappe soon restored the two-goal advantage with his fourth goal, again set up by Vinicius Jr., confirming his pivotal role in this match.

Even as Real appeared to have control, Olympiacos pressed on and found the net again, this time through Ayoub El Kaabi in the 81st minute. The home team continued to threaten for an equalizer, with El Kaabi and Gabriel Strefezza getting close, but the Madrid defense stood firm to secure the victory.

Coach Xabi Alonso expressed pride in his team’s composure under pressure, recognizing the significance of breaking their winless streak: “The important thing was to win, to break the cycle, to feel that feeling. The three points were also important to be in the top eight. It was competitive and hard-fought, but we needed it. In the Champions League, there are moments for everything, just like in the league. I really liked that at 1-0 we didn't lose our heads, we played calmly and maturely and turned it around. We are back to winning ways, and we won in Greece for the first time.”

Alonso also highlighted Mbappe's exceptional impact, stating, “Mbappe is very important, that goes without saying. His goals are fundamental, but that's not all. His personality, teamwork, unity,” he added.

This victory propels Real Madrid into fifth place in the Champions League standings with 12 points, while Olympiacos remains at the bottom of the table with just two points after three matches.

Mbappe’s dazzling display not only showcases his immense talent but also emphasizes Real Madrid’s determination and resilience as they aim for success in Europe’s prestigious tournament.
