A major apartment fire in Hong Kong, which killed at least 128 people, has led many K-pop stars and entertainment companies to offer support for the victims.

Aespa said on their Weibo page that they will donate 500,000 Hong Kong dollars to the Hong Kong Red Cross. The group shared their sadness over the tragic news.

Stray Kids promised 1 million Hong Kong dollars through World Vision Hong Kong to help provide temporary housing and other assistance for affected children and families. The group said they felt very heavy-hearted after hearing about the disaster.

SM Entertainment and JYP Entertainment also joined the relief efforts, donating a total of 3 million Hong Kong dollars to support emergency aid and recovery projects.

Other groups, including Riize, EXO-CBX and KickFlip, donated 100,000 Hong Kong dollars through World Vision Hong Kong.

At the same time, organisers of the MAMA Awards in Hong Kong faced online criticism in South Korea for not cancelling the event after the fire. The organisers cancelled the red carpet events but decided to continue with the main ceremony.

They offered condolences to the victims and added a “Support Hong Kong” message along with a moment of mourning during the show. The organisers also pledged 20 million Hong Kong dollars to the government’s support fund.
