Chandigarh Gangster Inderpreet Singh Gunned Down in Planned Attack

Chandigarh's lively Sector 26 became a crime hotspot Monday evening, as gangster Inderpreet Singh, also known as Parry, was shot dead in a carefully orchestrated, two-phase ambush near Timber Market. Surveillance footage captured the grim events: the initial gunfire erupted from within his vehicle, followed by another barrage from a pursuing Hyundai Creta.

The incident took place around 6:30 pm as Parry exited the Kala Ghoda Club with a companion in his Kia. Merely a kilometer into their journey, his passenger allegedly brandished a firearm and fired point-blank, leaving five shell casings behind. Moments later, a white Hyundai Creta, occupied by three to four attackers, unleashed six more shots at Parry to execute the killing.

Bystanders swiftly transported him to PGIMER, where medical staff pronounced him dead. Forensic teams discovered numerous bullet holes in the Kia, attesting to the violence of the ambush.

A Notorious Criminal Background

In his mid-30s, Parry had an extensive criminal background in Punjab and Chandigarh, with records of murder, extortion, and illegal possession of firearms. The son of a retired Punjab Police sub-inspector, he was implicated in several high-profile incidents, including the Kotkapura killings and multiple extortion cases across various hotels and clubs. In March 2022, Chandigarh Police seized a Glock pistol and a US-made rifle during a raid on his residence.

Gang Conflict at Play

Social media discussions post-murder indicate that the killing may be connected to a split within the Lawrence Bishnoi-Goldy Brar faction. Parry, who was formerly allied with Brar, reportedly shifted loyalties amid rising internal conflicts. Earlier this year, Brar publicly distanced himself from the Bishnoi group, exacerbating existing tensions. Observers suggest that this killing could be associated with an ongoing territory dispute, with warnings circulating among rival factions about possible revenge.

Law Enforcement Actions

The Chandigarh Police rapidly established checkpoints at the borders with Mohali and Panchkula, initiating extensive search operations. Teams from the Crime Branch and Operations Cell are scrutinizing CCTV footage and tracing the escape route of the Hyundai Creta, which is believed to have fled using fraudulent registration plates. Investigators are exploring various angles, encompassing inter-gang rivalries and personal as well as financial grievances.
