Dubai Chamber Strengthens Ties with Cambodia Through Key Mission

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce has successfully concluded its trade mission to Malaysia and Cambodia, further enhancing its business connections in Asia. This mission resulted in 189 business-to-business meetings in Phnom Penh, allowing enterprises from both Dubai and Cambodia to explore various avenues for collaboration across diverse industries. The interactions facilitated a deeper understanding of each other's business needs and highlighted potential areas for trade and investment growth.

A focal point of the mission was the “Doing Business with Cambodia” forum, organized in collaboration with the UAE Embassy in Thailand, the Ministry of Commerce of Cambodia, the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, and the Council for the Development of Cambodia. This forum gathered significant governmental and business figures from both nations.

Notable speakers included Tekreth Kamrang, Secretary of State at Cambodia’s Ministry of Commerce, and Neak Oknha Kith Meng, President of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce. Salem AlShamsi, Executive Vice President of International Relations at Dubai Chambers, also offered valuable insights, alongside Suon Sophal from the Cambodia Investment Board, who discussed Cambodia’s economic growth and developmental strategies.

The event drew participation from over 357 business leaders, company representatives, and officials, underscoring a significant interest in uncovering opportunities in both markets. Many attendees were eager to learn about how Dubai businesses could forge partnerships in Cambodia, and vice versa, particularly focusing on ways Cambodian firms could penetrate Dubai's regional markets through its strong infrastructure.

During the forum, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce presented a comprehensive overview of Dubai’s business environment, outlining the emirate's standing as a global trade and investment hub. The presentation showcased Dubai's robust logistics network, pro-business regulations, and access to markets in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia, positioning it as a preferred gateway for Cambodian companies seeking expansion.

Additionally, the Council for the Development of Cambodia provided insights into its growing economy. Their presentation featured important aspects such as business regulations, developmental initiatives, and the investment landscape, while pointing out sectors ready for foreign investment, inviting Dubai firms to consider long-term engagement within the country. Cambodia's progressing infrastructure and flourishing industries present a strong proposition for businesses exploring new growth areas.

The Dubai Chamber also identified several promising sectors for future collaboration between Dubai and Cambodia, including aluminium, iron and steel, beverages, furniture, mattresses, and aircraft parts. Moreover, Dubai-based enterprises were encouraged to investigate investment prospects in Cambodia’s tourism, transportation, textiles, consumer products, warehousing, construction, and infrastructure sectors.

Salem AlShamsi reiterated the chamber's dedication to fostering global growth for Dubai companies by actively supporting their endeavors in prioritized markets. He underlined that initiatives like this reinforce Dubai’s status as a forefront global business hub, while also paving avenues for new investments that would serve the interests of both nations. He expressed Dubai’s ambition to not only elevate trade volumes but to cultivate sustainable, long-term business collaborations.
