The tragic incident took place on May 31, 2010, when authorities unearthed the decomposed remains of a 25-year-old woman in her home in Jahangirpuri. A reward of Rs 10,000 was issued for information regarding his whereabouts.

After years of elusiveness, police received a lead in 2025 that directed them to Vadodara in Gujarat. Acting promptly, the Delhi Police traced Prasad to the Chhota Udaipur area, where he had been living undetected while employed as a manager at a cotton factory.
