China and Tajikistan Strengthen Economic Ties and Political Support

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited Dushanbe, Tajikistan’s capital, to explore ways to enhance trade, investment, and political ties between the two nations. During his visit on November 22, 2025, he reiterated China’s dedication to being a trustworthy partner for Tajikistan.

Wang Yi confirmed plans to boost imports of Tajikistan’s high-quality agricultural products and urged Chinese enterprises to increase their investments in this landlocked Central Asian nation, fostering its economic growth.

His visit also sought to strengthen political backing. Wang commended Tajikistan for its unwavering support of China regarding sensitive topics, especially Taiwan. He asserted China’s resolve against external involvement in Taiwan’s matters and voiced strong opposition to rising Japanese militarism following provoking comments from the Japanese Prime Minister about Taiwan's security.

Wang Yi further emphasized the significance of adhering to the international consensus on the one-China principle, which maintains that Taiwan is part of China. He highlighted mutual aims to safeguard the victories of World War II and ensure regional peace.

The two nations pledged to enhance cooperation beyond mere trade. Plans emerged to collaborate on tapping into Tajikistan’s mineral resources and elevating security through joint bilateral patrols.
