Cameron Green Becomes IPL’s Most Expensive Overseas Pick

Post by : Mina Carter

Kolkata Knight Riders pulled off a blockbuster move in the IPL 2026 mini auction, securing Cameron Green for a staggering ₹25.2 crore, making him the most expensive overseas player in IPL history, surpassing Mitchell Starc’s previous record of ₹24.75 crore.

The auction witnessed fierce competition. Mumbai Indians opened the bidding at Green’s base price of ₹2 crore but quickly withdrew due to a limited purse. Rajasthan Royals also showed interest, but KKR, with the largest available funds, stayed ahead. Chennai Super Kings attempted to outbid KKR at ₹25 crore, but the Knight Riders sealed the deal at ₹25.2 crore.

Under the new IPL guidelines, Green will receive ₹18 crore, while the remaining ₹7.2 crore will go toward player welfare initiatives. Green is no stranger to the IPL, having played for MI in 2023 and RCB in 2024, and his record-breaking price highlights his continuing demand in the league.
