Asian Paints Shares Climb Over 4% Following Impressive Q2 Results

Post by : Bianca Hayes

Asian Paints witnessed a notable increase on Thursday, with shares climbing more than 4% to reach Rs 2,897 in early trading. This upswing follows the company’s impressive Q2 results that have bolstered investor confidence. Prior to this, the stock had already surged nearly 6% on Wednesday post the earnings release.

Exceptional Quarterly Performance

During the July-September period, Asian Paints exceeded expectations across all primary financial metrics. Domestic decorative volumes surged by 10.9%, surpassing the market forecast of 4-5%. Year-on-year net profit soared by 47% to Rs 1,018 crore, partly attributed to a one-time loss in the previous year. Revenue increased by 6.4% to Rs 8,531 crore, with EBITDA rising by 21.3% to Rs 1,503 crore, and margins grew by over 200 basis points to 17.6%.

Market Valuation and Investor Outlook

With these recent gains, Asian Paints boasts a market capitalization of approximately Rs 2.73 lakh crore. The stock is currently trading at a high price-to-earnings ratio nearing 76, indicative of its premium stature in the consumer discretionary sector. The dividend yield is recorded at 0.87%, providing a slight income benefit for investors.

Analyst Insights and Mixed Perspectives

Following the results, brokerage views reflected a blend of optimism and caution. Jefferies maintained a 'Buy' recommendation, elevating the target price to Rs 3,300, citing broad-based volume growth and market share increases. HSBC also retained a 'Buy' rating with a target of Rs 3,050, emphasizing margin surprises and recovery in the core decorative segment. Conversely, Goldman Sachs issued a 'Sell' rating with a target of Rs 2,500, pointing out hurdles in sustaining momentum amidst competitive challenges and mid-single-digit revenue growth projections for FY26.

Asian Paints’ recent performance highlights its robustness in a competitive market landscape, driven by volume increases, brand strength, and steady market presence.
