San Francisco – Abidur Chowdhury, notable designer at Apple responsible for the iPhone Air launch video, has departed from the tech giant to take a position at an artificial intelligence startup, according to sources close to the situation. His unexpected exit has raised eyebrows among his peers, highlighting his prominent role within Apple’s design team.

Chowdhury holds a Bachelor’s degree in Product Design and Technology from Loughborough University and began his journey in industrial design in 2015. After gaining experience through internships at Cambridge Consultants and Curventa, he joined Layer Design in 2017. Following a year of freelancing, he became a part of Apple in January 2019 as an Industrial Designer.

While at Apple, Chowdhury was instrumental in the creation of the iPhone Air, contributing significantly to both its design and marketing strategies. He gained further recognition by featuring in the company’s official launch video in September 2025, a notable achievement within Apple’s ranks.

Reports indicate that his decision to leave is not tied to the upcoming iPhone Air launch, as Apple is gearing up for a second-generation version anticipated for 2027. Although his LinkedIn profile has yet to reflect this career shift, insiders believe that his move to the AI industry is in line with his passion for innovative technologies.

Experts suggest that transitions like Chowdhury's might represent a broader trend of tech designers gravitating toward AI startups, merging creativity with the advancement of next-generation technology.
