Vijay Emerges Victorious in Tamil Nadu Elections

Post by : Shakul

In a significant political triumph, Vijay's party has established itself as the leading entity in the recent Tamil Nadu elections. The actor-turned-politician made waves across the nation as his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, won 108 out of 234 assembly seats. This marks a noteworthy political debut for Vijay, who transitioned into politics after rounding off his illustrious film career last year.

As per India's Election Commission, Vijay also claimed victory in both of his contested constituencies, Tiruchi East and Perambur. Even though his party became the dominant political force, it is still short of the 118 seats needed for a simple majority on its own. Analysts anticipate that Vijay will initiate talks with other parties to form a coalition government in Tamil Nadu.

The electoral outcome has gained immense popularity, especially considering that Vijay launched his party just in February 2024. As one of India's top actors, he stepped away from acting after his last film, Jana Nayagan, in 2025. His decision to pursue politics full-time caught many fans and industry analysts by surprise.

Despite enjoying widespread support, Vijay's journey through politics was not without its hurdles. His campaign faced several difficulties, including a tragic stampede during a rally last October, along with various public controversies. Nonetheless, his dedicated fan following showed unwavering support throughout the election process.

The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party secured 59 seats, while the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam garnered 47. These results signal a substantial shift in the political landscape of Tamil Nadu, with Vijay’s freshly minted party positioning itself as a formidable contender in a short timeframe.

Excitement over Vijay's triumph extended beyond Indian borders, reaching Malaysia, where he has a substantial fan base. In Kuala Lumpur and George Town, supporters convened at Tea Kadai outlets to revel in the election results. The tea chain organized a giveaway event, offering complimentary tea to patrons displaying congratulatory posters of Vijay.

Mohamed Rizwan Abdul Ghafoor Khan, co-founder of Tea Kadai, expressed that the event was held purely out of admiration for Vijay. Nearly 400 cups of tea were distributed free from evening until midnight as admirers celebrated his electoral victory. Footage of the festivities circulated rapidly on social media, generating widespread reactions from fans in both regions.

Vijay has long held a close bond with Malaysia, with several of his blockbuster hits, including Kuruvi and Kaavalan, filmed partially in the country. His popularity among Malaysian Tamil audiences has consistently remained robust, rendering the election celebrations even more meaningful for his supporters.

In December, his farewell concert and movie album launch, Thalapathy Thiruvizha, at Bukit Jalil National Stadium drew nearly 80,000 fans, breaking attendance records for a celebrity event in Malaysia. With this latest political accomplishment, many believe Vijay is stepping into a new chapter of influence, not only as a film star but also as a significant political figure in Tamil Nadu.
