UAE Unveils Advanced Crypto Discovery Tool for Cybersecurity Enhancement

Post by : Bianca Hayes

The UAE Cyber Security Council has teamed up with QuantumGate to unveil an innovative Crypto Discovery Tool (CDT), marking an important leap in the nation's journey toward quantum-safe cybersecurity.

Developed under the auspices of the UAE National Cryptography Center, the tool is pivotal to the comprehensive cybersecurity strategy of the nation. It aims at aiding organizations in preparing for the approaching threats posed by quantum computing, enhancing oversight and control over cryptographic systems.

The CDT operates by automatically identifying and cataloging cryptographic assets within digital environments. By generating a thorough inventory of the encryption systems that organizations employ, it aids in pinpointing vulnerabilities and potential risks within existing security frameworks. This functionality enables companies to better manage cryptographic risks and strategize for a seamless transition to post-quantum encryption.

Officials have emphasized the critical role this system plays for national infrastructure, where robust security measures are vital.

Dr. Mohamed Al-Kuwaiti, Head of Cyber Security for the UAE Government, noted that this partnership is a significant advancement in bolstering the UAE's cybersecurity capabilities. He highlighted that possessing sovereign tools for discovering and managing cryptography across various sectors is fundamental for a secure transition to post-quantum cryptography.

QuantumGate CEO Dr. Najwa Aaraj remarked that the tool empowers organizations with comprehensive insights into their cryptographic vulnerabilities, allowing for proactive measures before quantum risks materialize.

The CDT features real-time continuous monitoring capabilities, enabling organizations to track cryptographic assets dynamically. This ensures that they remain compliant, audit-ready, and secure amidst evolving standards. The modular compliance system can be updated easily in line with any new directives from the UAE Cyber Security Council.

As part of the UAE National Post-Quantum Migration Programme, the CDT is set to assist both public and private entities in orchestrating a seamless transition to quantum-resistant encryption protocols.

Moreover, the tool is designed to integrate with the UAE’s broader cybersecurity framework via the National Cybersecurity Index platform. It will feed crucial data into a national Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) Index, providing authorities with a consolidated view of the country’s cryptographic security landscape.

This connection will enhance national monitoring, bolster readiness evaluation, and enable improved decision-making processes.

The launch of the CDT signifies another milestone in the partnership between the UAE Cyber Security Council and QuantumGate, reinforcing the UAE’s stature as a pioneering force in the realm of quantum-safe cybersecurity innovation.
