Brian Cavanaugh of Maryland has been nominated as Under Secretary for Management at the Department of Homeland Security, taking over from Claire M. Grady.
The administration has also nominated Thomas B. Chapman for reappointment as a member of the National Transportation Safety Board, extending his term until the end of 2028. Similarly, David M. Prouty has been nominated for reappointment to the National Labor Relations Board, while James Macy of Wisconsin has been nominated for a new term on the same board through 2030.
In the field of foreign diplomacy, Michelle Steel of California has been nominated as the U.S. Ambassador to South Korea, while Eric Wendt has been selected as Ambassador to Albania. These roles are considered important for strengthening U.S. relations with key international partners.
Additional nominations include Brock Dahl as Legal Adviser at the Department of State, Jason Holt as U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Oklahoma, and Timothy VerHey as U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Michigan. Michael Tierney has been nominated as Assistant Secretary of Veterans Affairs, focusing on accountability and whistleblower protection.
James Woodruff has also been nominated to serve as Chairman of the Merit Systems Protection Board, a body responsible for overseeing federal employment practices and protecting employee rights.
At the same time, the administration has withdrawn the nomination of Troy Edgar as U.S. Ambassador to El Salvador. No specific reason was provided for the withdrawal, which had originally been submitted to the Senate earlier this year.
All nominations will now go through the Senate confirmation process, where lawmakers will review the candidates’ qualifications before final approval. The moves reflect ongoing efforts by the administration to fill key leadership roles across government agencies and diplomatic missions.
