Trump Says He Has 'no problem' with Russian oil tanker

Donald Trump has said he has “no problem” with a Russian oil tanker delivering fuel to Cuba, even as the United States continues its strict economic and oil restrictions on the island. His comments come at a time when Cuba is facing a serious energy crisis.

Speaking to reporters, Trump confirmed that he would allow the shipment, saying that humanitarian needs should be considered. He added that if any country, including Russia, wants to send oil to Cuba to help people survive, he would not oppose it.

The tanker, identified as Anatoly Kolodkin, is reportedly carrying around 730,000 barrels of oil and is expected to arrive at the Cuban port city of Matanzas. Reports suggest that the shipment could provide enough diesel to meet the country’s energy demand for several days, offering temporary relief during ongoing shortages.

Cuba has been struggling with severe fuel shortages due to the U.S. blockade, which has limited access to essential oil supplies. This has led to widespread power outages, disruptions in transportation, and pressure on hospitals and other critical services. Many citizens are facing daily hardships due to the lack of electricity and basic resources.

Despite the geopolitical tension, Trump downplayed concerns that allowing the shipment would benefit Vladimir Putin. He stated that the delivery of a single tanker would not have a significant impact on Russia, and his decision was focused more on the needs of the Cuban people rather than international politics.

Trump also criticized the Cuban government, describing it as ineffective, but said that humanitarian considerations should come first. He emphasized that people in Cuba need access to basic necessities such as electricity, heating, and cooling, especially during a time of crisis.

The situation highlights the ongoing political and economic tensions involving Cuba, the United States, and Russia, while also raising questions about balancing sanctions with humanitarian needs.
