A child has tragically died following a collision with a commercial vehicle on Wednesday afternoon, Ottawa police confirmed.
First responders were called to the scene on Presland Road shortly after 3:30 p.m. Paramedics reported that the child, under the age of 10, had been struck by a dump truck.
Officers and paramedics performed life-saving measures at the scene, but the child later succumbed to their injuries in the hospital. No other injuries were reported.
Ottawa Police Service is now seeking witnesses to the incident. Authorities are asking anyone with dashcam or surveillance footage of the collision to come forward to assist with the investigation.
