One-Year-Old Found Safe After Father Sought in Fatal Brampton Shooting

A one-year-old girl has been found safe following an Amber Alert in Brampton, Ontario, but police say her father is now wanted in connection with a fatal shooting.

The alert was issued around 5 p.m. Tuesday and canceled roughly two hours later. "I can now confirm that the child has been located by police safe and sound," said Const. Mandeep Khatra. Authorities believe the child was dropped off with family members.

The girl's 38-year-old father, who allegedly abducted her, is wanted in connection with the shooting of a woman earlier that day. Officers were called to a plaza parking lot near Queen Street E. and Airport Road just before 2 p.m., where the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle with the child in the back seat. Police describe the incident as potentially intimate partner-related but say the investigation is ongoing.

The suspect is believed to have left the Niagara Region. He is driving a black 2024 Nissan Kicks with Quebec plate FRV4520 and is considered armed and dangerous. Authorities urge anyone who sees him not to approach and to call 911 immediately.

He is described as five foot nine, 175 pounds, with a thin build, clean-shaven, short brown hair, and hazel eyes, last seen wearing a dark hoodie, blue jeans, and carrying a black crossbody bag. Residents near Crystal Beach in Fort Erie were briefly asked to shelter in place.

Police are appealing to anyone with information or dashcam footage from the area to come forward.
